Record Attendance
From February 4 - 7, 2009, the German-Austrian-Swiss Society of Thrombosisand Haemoostatis Research "Gesellschaft für Thrombose- und Haemostaseforschung" had its 53rd annual meeting in Vienna's Imperial Palace.
The congress motto "Research for tailored diagnosis and treatment", which critically analysed the impact of new diagnostic and therapeutic options on the individual patient, was in stimulating contrast to the Imperial Palace's historical ambiance. In the scientific sessions, a number of outstanding international experts from the field of haemostasis and thrombosis research addressed findings in basic science as well as recent trends in clinical management.
The official social events, such as the official congress opening in the Imperial Palace's famous "Festsaal", the Speakers' Dinner at the unique Fuchs Villa as well as the Congress Party at Palais Liechtenstein provided ample opportunity for the 1244 participants from 30 countries to exchange scientific findings and professional experiences, as well as get to know each other personally, in a relaxed atmosphere.
The former residence of the Habsburg family, in the very heart of Vienna, impressed participants not only with its luxurious ambiance and one-of-a-kind architecture, but also with its location near many other sights, hotels and restaurants, thus providing the perfect setting for this event.
The numerous positive feedback from congress participants — regarding the meeting's substantial scientific merit, the smooth organisation, the beautiful classic setting of the meeting, the city of Vienna itself and last, but not least, the charm of the Viennese — proves once again that Vienna is the ideal city for meetings.
"It was similar to a wedding, very beautiful, and over much too quickly..."
