EP9 Ambassador Kick-off Meeting in Amsterdam

As we know, an ambassador is a national representative abroad. In the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), Europe’s largest dental association, an Ambassador is a representative of a national member association within the larger federation. People chosen for this position are usually young, ambitious dental professionals who take their national society’s representation on the international level very seriously. That’s good, because their job is to promote the EFP’s upcoming EuroPerio Congress 2018 in Amsterdam in their home countries with all they have.

On the 1st of December 2016 the first Kick-off meeting of the EuroPerio9 congress took place at RAI Amsterdam. During a dinner on the evening preceding the meeting, the participants had a chance to get to know each other beforehand. On the next day, the goals of the Ambassador Programme were presented and developed in a four-hour meeting by representatives of the EuroPerio9 Organising Committee and PCO Mondial Congress & Events.

First, the newly appointed Ambassadors were familiarized with their cause. What is the EuroPerio congress? What are its aims? And which tools are at my disposal to communicate these to my colleagues back home? Ambassadors act as links between the EFP and its national member associations. That means they have to be well informed and provided with the opportunity to network well and extensively.

In a team workshop, this philosophy was put into practice right away. In groups of five, the Ambassadors had to answer the following question: “Why missing EuroPerio9 is not an option”. The most exciting thing about it: The results were saved via Graphic Recording, which means that they were sketched live by a graphic artist. The result is a fantastic collage, which we are proud to present to you here:

As was hoped, the Ambassadors left Amsterdam in good spirits, highly motivated and equipped with many new friendships. Participants will stay in touch via email and a specially created Facebook group, which allows them to share experiences and resources. From an Ambassador’s point of view, 2018 can’t come soon enough.
