Duesseldorf can look back on a highly diverse history: the city flourished economically and culturally, only to be plunged into depression as a result of numerous wars and battles. After being named capital of the federal state in 1946, the city's (re-)construction accelerated at a significant pace.
Its economic transformation saw Duesseldorf growing into the wealthy city of trade, administration and service industries it is today: it is a stronghold of the German advertising and fashion industry and, more recently, it also has become Germany's top telecommunication centre.
With a track record of over 700.000 exhibition-, congress- and festival-participants per annum, Duesseldorf has proven beyond doubt that it can provide the infrastructure required for prestigious and complex meetings of any kind. |
